Whenever I think of Byredo perfumes, I think of the celebrity-favorite eau de parfums, even before I had the money to buy them. Their distinctive and unique scent names, as well as their minimalist yet recognizable packaging, give luxury European perfumes a distinctly sophisticated and elegant style.
Ben Gorham, a native Swede, launched the fragrance brand 15 years ago, striving to create products and experiences that “translate memories and emotions.” His first launch was Gypsy Water, a cult favorite known for its fresh and free-spirited composition. Over the years, he has released countless fragrances and even collaborated on a cosmetics line with beauty icon Isamaya French.
Fragrance connoisseurs have been taken on an olfactory expedition through time and space by Gorham’s perfume perfections. His recent efforts have gone so far as to create a perfume named Mixed Emotions to reflect our turbulent times. The founder’s genius may well be shown through this example: the ability to bottle up emotions, good or bad, no matter what they may be.
To help you choose a fragrance that suits you, I have ranked and reviewed the six most distinctive unisex fragrances of Byredo , starting with my absolute favorites and ending with those that are simply impossible to miss. Here they are, fresh, unique scents.

Ranking of the Best Byredo perfumes
Byredo Gypsy Water
Gypsy Water is a cult favorite among celebrities, editors, and fragrance enthusiasts alike, and it truly lives up to its hype. Juniper berries and lemon combine with vanilla and amber to create a fragrance that is both light and airy. My top choice is this free-spirited fragrance, since, unlike many others, it can be worn all year round and is a hands-down favorite.
Emotions Mixed with Byredo
During the Coronavirus outbreak, I came across this scent and its name struck a chord with me. When it comes to tumultuous times, how do you contain Mixed Emotions? My feelings about this one (in relation to its name) took me a while to understand, but I fell in love with it in the end. It begins with vibrant top notes of maté tea and black current and moves into a slightly smoky, herbal fusion of tea, birch, violet leaves, and papyrus to create a fresh scent with a bit of nostalgia, that isn’t overpowering and definitely unique.
Mojave Ghost by Byredo
The musky, mysterious scent of fall is just what I need. Coffee shop atmospheres are often characterized by woody, spicy, and aromatic aromas. It has a scent of cedar, Ambergris, violet, and sandalwood, in addition to the middle note of sandalwood, which lingers on the skin and reminds me of its refined, intimate presence. Those of you who have never seen the Mojave Desert or learned about the Mojave Ghost flower might be interested in trying this amber-floral perfume.
Byredo Sundazed
This summery fragrance does actually have cotton candy as a base note. Do not be alarmed: It isn’t as sweet as the stuff you probably sprayed as a teenager. Consider it an elevated, sophisticated, and straight-up luxe rendition of the fragrance you wore in your youth. Initially, it offers zesty citrus notes of mandarin orange and California lemon before softening and sweetening slightly with the inclusion of jasmine, neroli, white musk, and cotton candy.
Rose of No Man’s Land by Byredo
Its petals of fresh rose and pink pepper are soft and subtle, evoking a feeling of calm and calmness.
The brand explains that “Rose of No Man’s Land” was the name given by soldiers to the nurses who helped save thousands of lives during World War I. This scent pays tribute to these women. While capturing the nurse’s gentle and comforting qualities, the brand perfectly captured the scent of a rose.
Byredo Blanche
Having the name Blanche (meaning “white”) conjures up thoughts of a fresh bed sheet and a bouquet of flowers fresh from the dryer. Even though it is a wildly specific image, it invokes thoughts of waking up in the morning and stretching while taking in the new day. There’s something fresh, sweet, and feminine about it. With top notes of aldehyde, rose centifolia and musk, I would describe this scent as simplistic yet comforting.
